I am Yohan Blake, a Jamaican sprinter who competes in both 100 metres and 200 metres races on the international scene. At the age of 19, I was the youngest man ever to have broken the 10 second barrier for 100 metres and 200 metres in a time of 9.69 seconds and 19.26 seconds respectively; making me a World and Olympic Champion.
I am also the founder of the YB Afraid Foundation which was established to lend financial support to children homes. Through my foundation, I have adopted three children homes in Jamaica - Mount Olivet Boys Homes in Manchester, Pringle Home in St. Mary and the Jamaica Baptist Union Garland Hall Memorial Children Home in Anchovy. These homes cater to over 50 children and I plan to adopt an additional four homes, making it a total of seven across Jamaica. But ultimately my dream is to build a children’s home in the next five years. So, I am asking for your help to make this a reality and I am appealing to investors to come on board. I want ensure that these homes will serve as a safe and nurturing environment for children who have been abused, abandoned, orphaned, homeless or who have had to leave home because their families cannot adequately provide for their basic needs.
Every child deserves to feel safe and protected and to have access to recreational and educational facilities which will stimulate their growth and development.
Therefore, your donation will go towards providing toiletries, food, clothing, building recreational facilities and ensuring access to education.
It takes a community to grow a child; and these homes are in constant need of supplies all year round. With this in mind, I will be partnering with Jamaicans Inspired to host several charity events in the upcoming year.
